Pidáyit

Pidáyit means "to string together pieces"—a symbol of healing through shared stories and connection. Like a quilt of imperfections, this magazine of The Industrialist honors the slow and collective journey of growth—celebrating stories stitched together by empathy, memory, and hope.

The backward flow of water from breaking waves would undoubtedly drown those who try to crest with it. No one is brave or foolish enough to face the tides, knowing that going against the cycle can possibly cost their life. For years, it became taboo to stay away from the ocean and settle for what’s available on the shore.

For the past few years, we have confronted ourselves daily in front of mirrors—questioning the life of our flickering ideals, worth, and hope. As we are faced with greater challenges by the passing time, these things that make us begin to break us, and as they are sucked into the whirlwind of drastic change, we get dragged just the same.

We, humans, have come a long way. Through time, those who came before us have proven that they can do so many things even with little resources. The once black-and-white world may have become colorful when a fire was invented, giving not just hope but a spark of creativity, art, and progression.

Since time immemorial, homosexuality has imprinted its roots in this archipelago. And from then on, countless generations have witnessed their continuous bloodbath struggle for freedom and equality. Many have tried to suppress their emergence—many have attempted to kill their colors—but their glory remains—proud and brave.

Anamnesis: a recalling to mind, a reminiscence of things that once existed—a remembrance of our present that is slipping into the past we might try to recall but never will, for our doom awaits if we do not act now.

Womanhood, as many perceive it, is gentle—it is about unfolding and flourishing. It is about radiance, like petals in bloom. It is about nurturing, cultivating, and illuminating. Yet womanhood is also about grasping thorns and clutching thistles. It is about adversity, endurance, and defiance. But it is in these very sharp thistles that women are shaped, and this is what makes them radiant, resilient, and relentless.

A person's life is circling in the cycle of transition; from the day he was born on Earth, transition has always been there. It is a process, and it happens over time. Sometimes, we never notice that some things are already transitioning because our attention is too focused on things that matter less—ending, we get unaware, making us culture shocked by the changes that occur in our society.
